Explore different elements of art making including colour, line, space and value! In this course, artist and instructor Pamela Jeffrey will provide a variety of ideas and techniques to help students create exciting new compositions.

Play with mark making using traditional and non traditional tools. Sharpen your ability to see “Shapes” not “Things”. Combine different materials in innovative ways. Incorporate texture, pattern and unexpected themes. Make Art that “sparks” a conversation with the viewer. This course is for anyone looking for inspiration in their art practice. Whether you are intrigued by “figurative “ work or find “faces and figures” challenging, this is a great opportunity to practice new techniques and mediums!

Recommended Materials

*Supplies are not included for adult classes unless stated so. If you need assistance with supplies, please contact us before your class starts.

Mixed Media sketchbook, 9×12 (140 pound weight is best as it takes wet media well)
Sketchbook for exercises and preliminary sketches (dollar store or affordable option)
Bring your favourite drawing materials
Pens: thin and thick permanent black (sharpies are fine)
Water soluble black pen (water soluble pencils – Artists Emporium should have them)
Scissors
Glue stick
One (or more) small bottles of acrylic ink ***in a bottle with a STOPPER
Your favourite painting material (acrylic, water colours, water soluble oil, gouache)
Paint brushes (one small, one big)
Small spray water bottle (small garden spray bottle)
