Ten Weeks

No class October 12 for Thanksgiving.

Head Drawing for Beginners’ is an introduction to a constructive approach to the basics of head drawing. The knowledge taught in this course is applicable to many genres of art including invention and design, portrait drawing, figure drawing and illustration. Students will learn the basics of proportion, anatomy and musculature, rhythms, planes and features of the human head.  An emphasis will be placed on drawing from life using models, busts, and each other. While the primary goal of this course is to focus on the structure of the head, we will also explore how to manipulate drawing materials, line edges and shadow patterns to create a three dimensional illusion. The skills learned in ‘Head Drawing for Beginners’ are applicable to drawing and inventing any object. By the end of the course students will be able to envision and construct a basic head from imagination.

Note: The class will include three sessions with a live model. This class is held in our basement studio with stair access only.

Class Fee: $290
