Learn to create light and luminance within a painting! In this intermediate course, artist and instructor Jessica Holl will guide students through alternative watercolour methods and applications to rouse creativity and think outside the box.

Work from photo references to practice glazing, abstraction, and using masking fluid. Explore different styles and work with themes like nature, florals, water, close-up compositions and experimental imagery. This course is for folks with experience in watercolour painting and composition who are open to trying new things and playing around!

Recommended Materials

*Supplies are not included for adult classes unless stated so. If you need assistance with supplies, please contact us before your class starts.

Arches 140 lb. Cold pressed watercolour pad (for projects) or nicest paper you can afford
Canson XL coiled watercolour paper (for practise) or a less expensive pad for practise/notes
Masking fluid
Cheap brush (for masking fluid (your good brushes will get damaged)/ OR silicone brush)
Painters tape/masking tape
Round brush between size 0-2 for details
Round brushes, size 4, 8 & 12 (or just different sizes within that range)
Flat brush 1/2 or 3/4 inch
Tube watercolour paints or paint you already have
Mixing pallet
Paper towel
Case to carry brushes
