Learn the beginning steps of shape making on the pottery wheel! In this 6-week course with artist and instructor Margaret Glavina, students learn the important behaviours of clay and its properties in order to create works successfully. Join us as we shape, mold, and create together in this immersive and transformative pottery experience!

This course will focus primarily on the creation of mugs and bowls; crucial steps to beginning your wheel journey! Glazing and other design elements will also be addressed throughout the course.

*Forum Art Centre will supply 7lbs of clay, which is sufficient to create four to five pieces on the wheel.

Note: This course follows a guided curriculum designed for true beginners and is not suitable for intermediate potters or those looking to work independently.

Recommended Materials:

Kemper tool kit (basics)
Disposable face masks (also available in the studio)
Old Hand Towel and Apron
Optional: Cone 6 glazes (more on this will be discussed in the first class)

Materials can be purchased locally at The Sounding Stone.

Note: Your instructor will review our firing volume limits during your first class and help students visualize their volume limit for the six-week session.
