In this course with Desiree Mendoza 🔗 , students will appreciate the unique characteristics of watercolours such as transparency and fluidity. Painting using this medium will allow students to discover their creativity and unique voice, by using different techniques that will help them create expressive floral artworks that are loose in style, and full of movement.

*Basic and intermediate knowledge of watercolours would be useful.

Suggested Material List:

-Good quality watercolour paints (in tubes or pan) ex. Kuretake Gansai Tambi, Paul Rubens Artist Watercolour Paint)

-Metallic light gold watercolour paint (optional)

-1 colour of Dr. PH Martin’s Bombay Ink (ex. magenta or teal)

-140lb cold pressed Arches watercolour paper pad (9×12) or Strathmore 400 series (9×12)

-Watercolour round brushes nos. 4, 8, 10 and a flat brush (3/4″); fine liner brush (optional)

-Backing board (ex. plastic corrugated or foam core)

-Pigma Micron Pen (nos.3 & 8) with black ink

-White gel pen or marker (ex. Gelly Roll 08 or Posca 0.7mm)

-Pencil and eraser

-Roll of paper towel or an old absorbent cloth

-2 to 3 water containers

-Palette with wells or old dinner plate

-Masking or painter’s tape

-Spray water bottle

-drinking straw

-old toothbrush
