Drawing is one of the most important tools an artist can have​​

Learn the basics of drawing and painting with James Culleton 🔗In this class you will study composition, tone, perspective and colour theory. How to mix colours and how to shade.

Suggested Material List:

Drawing Materials
Pencils 6H to 6B ( a good selection would be 6H, 4H, 2H, HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)
Eraser ( white or Kneaded)
Sharpies, 1ultra fine tip and 1 fine point
Charcoal – compressed or vine
Oil pastels – set of 10 or 12 colours
Ruler
8×11 sketchbook
9×12 Mixed Media Sketchbook
A couple Blending Stumps or Tortillion(compressed paper pencils for smudging)
Painting Materials
Acrylics – This can be any starter paint kit of acrylics and should have a black/white/red/yellow/blue. Some colour suggestions that are great to add are Titanium White, Ivory Black, Cadmium Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Cadmium Red, Alizarin Crimson, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue. In the secondary colours Sap Green, Payne’s Grey, Yellow Ochre, Raw Umber, Burnt Umber are all good additions to the palette. If you see a colour you think you might like, get it!
Plastic lids are great to mix paint on for a palette. Or Tupperware with a lid
Plastic cups to hold water
Palette Knife or any plastic knife(optional)
Painter tape(green)
Rag or paper towel
A variety of brush sizes, small, medium, large(as discussed in class)
 I like a 1/8” or 1/2” for the small aka a number 2 to 4 for small,
a between a 6 to 12 or for the medium and large can be round or flat
Strathmore 300 Canvas Paper Glue Bound 9″ x 12″
