Summer Art Camp Leader

Programs & Administration: June-July

Calling all emerging artists and art educators!

Forum Art Centre is seeking a passionate, art-loving individual to assist the Programming Manager in the creation, administration, and hands-on execution of our Summer and Fall programs for children, teens, and adults.

Duties will include communications between art instructors and students, supply management, registration, marketing, outreach, reception, cleaning, reporting and record keeping. 

Specifically:

  • Creation and Preparation of summer (and fall) programming. 
  • Assist in the design, building, marketing and registration of all summer programs.
  • Learn the daily schedule of the Centre, its policies and procedures, website and registration processes. 
  • Prepare the Centre for programs, create and maintain art supply stock lists, basic administration duties.
  • Centre cleaning, reception and maintenance duties as

 

Summer Camp Team Member: July

  • Facilitate the Registration Process for Summer Camps.
  • Assist the day to day operation of Summer Camp programs.
  • Welcome children, teens and their families to the Centre. 
  • Keep clear health and safety records for students, enforce safety policies and monitor first aid stations etc.
  • With the senior art instructors, and Day Camp Leader, supervise children and teens in art making, outdoor activities and project based learning. 
  • Maintain art supplies, create environmental awareness and facilitate good environmental stewardship. (recycling, paint disposal, using found or recycled supplies). 
  • Maintain cleanliness of the Centre.
  • Maintain First Aid supplies.
  • Maintain supply of snacks, water, and other inventory for the health and safety of summer camp participants 
  • Other Duties may be assigned by The Programs Manager, Art Instructor or Forum Art Centre Staff.

 

As a key member of the Summer Programming staff, The Education Programs Assistant  supports the staff, students and families to provide an excellent, artistic, safe and fun environment. 

Qualifications: 

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience working or volunteering with children and youth. 
  • Experience (work, studies, volunteering) in the creative arts is essential.
  • Some experience with basic office administrative systems: MS Office, Google Workspace, Canva, WordPress is an asset.
  • Candidates studying arts education, fine arts, or creative arts are strongly encouraged to apply!

  • Works collaboratively with others.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently.

Potential Start Date: June 9th 

Contract duration: Eight Weeks (possibility for extension)

The candidate works 35.0  hours per week. Monday to Friday with some scheduled weekend and evening events. 

The successful candidate will be required to provide a Police Record Check and Child Abuse/Vulnerable Sector Check.

Forum Art Centre is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Summer Art Camp Leader!

As a Summer Art Camp Leader, you’ll play a vital role in supporting Art Camp Instructors and Forum Art Centre staff, ensuring a smooth and inspiring experience for young artists.

Duties will include assisting with engaging art camp activities, camp administration, maintaining a welcoming environment through centre cleaning, greeting and supporting visitors at reception, and contributing to outreach efforts that connect with the creative community.

During weekly summer day camp programming, the Day Camp Leader is an active part of the camp staff. 

  • Opening and Closing the Centre as required.
  • Organizing and supervising activities in art making and recreation.
  • Assisting children and youth during all camp activities.
  • Provide supervision during camp programming including morning, lunchtime and end of day.
  • Help to keep the camp areas clean and organized.
  • Communicate with staff and parents as required.
  • Record keeping, attendance, monitoring special needs or health issues and other direct supervisory requirements for children and youth.
  • Other duties as required.
