Welcome to Watercolour 101 with Jin!

The course is designed for students who are new to watercolour or haven’t played with their paints in five or more years. Students will learn all the basics: materials, colour mixing, colour harmony, various textures and essential skills in watercolour.

Jinyoung Park uses carefully selected demo paintings to help students learn and develop their technical skills. Students in this class work on a new painting each week. Projects in this class are selected by the instructor and change every session.

Students are encouraged to experience a variety of subjects as they learn to embrace intentional and unintentional touches, controlling and letting go of brushes, and allowing and accepting flaws in their work.

9”×12″of Strathmore 400 series Watercolour paper pad(=12sheets).
Suggested: Winsor Newton Cotman Watercolour 10-colour Paint Set from Michael’s. (or any watercolour 12 tube set)
Brushes: Round #4, #8, #10, & Flat 3/4″
A plastic folding palette,
Backing board (corrugated plastic sheet)
1 roll of Paper towel,
2 water containers,
Masking tape,
Spray water bottle,
Pencil & eraser.
