Comic Book Art and Storytelling is an immersive course designed by Doug  Fedrau 🔗 for aspiring comic book artists who are passionate about visual storytelling. Whether you’re a beginner or have some experience in drawing, this course will provide you with the foundational skills and techniques needed to create captivating comic book narratives.

Throughout the course, students will delve into the diverse world of comic book art, exploring key concepts such as character design, panel layout, composition, narrative pacing, and sequential storytelling. Emphasis will be placed on developing a strong visual narrative style while honing individual artistic voices.

Key Topics Include:

  • Character Design and Development: Learn techniques for creating dynamic and memorable characters, including exploring visual cues for personality, costume design, and expressive poses.
  • Storytelling Fundamentals: Understand the principles of visual storytelling, including framing, pacing, and sequencing, to effectively communicate narrative ideas and emotions.
  • Panel Layout and Composition: Explore various panel layouts and composition techniques to enhance the flow and impact of your comic book pages, including considerations such as perspective, scale, and visual hierarchy.
  • Inking and Line Work: Master the art of inking and line work to add depth, texture, and clarity to your comic book illustrations, including using different line weights and styles to create emphasis and mood.
  • Colour Theory and Application: Gain insight into colour theory and learn practical techniques for applying colour to your comic book artwork.
  • Lettering and Typography: Understand the role of lettering and typography in comic book storytelling, including principles of readability, dialogue placement, and sound effects.
