Play with different mark making tools to create original pieces!

In this class, Pamela Jeffrey 🔗 teaches students to experiment with a variety of substrates (surfaces) to stretch their imagination and develop technical and compositional skills. A variety of subjects from Portraits and Figures to Nature, Wildlife and Abstraction will be explored. Students will be invited to practice both realistic and non-traditional interpretations.

Note: This class includes a materials fee so students can use items supplied by Forum to add variety to the items they select to purchase from the suggested materials listed.

Suggested Material List:

Students do not need everything on this list. What is important is the VARIETY of materials, both permanent and water soluble.  Materials can be supplemented by supplies available at Forum.

  • Different pens and pencils: Sharpies, black ink drawing pens, ballpoint pens, soft lead pencils 2B, 6B, mechanical pencil
  • Coloured drawing materials: permanent and water soluble, pens, pencils, crayons, paint pens if you have them.
  • Pastels: Oil (good quality if possible: I like Mungyo Gallery Artists Oil Pastels – affordable and available on Amazon)  and Soft/Chalk pastels.
  • Options for Paint – if students wish: watercolours; a few acrylic colours or water-soluble oils: limited palette (2 or 3 Primary Colours plus Black and White)
