This course is part of a two-part series, followed by “Figure Drawing: The Clothed Figure” in winter!
Figure Drawing – The Fundamentals’ is a constructive approach to the basics of figure drawing for beginners. This course with Cullen Bingeman aims to break down the complexities of the human form and simplify them. Students will be introduced to the basics of gesture, structure, proportions, and anatomy of the human figure. An emphasis will be placed on quick sketch drawing from photographs progressing up to longer poses. The skills learned in this course are applicable to many genres of art including illustration, design and invention, and life drawing. By the end of the course students will be able to envision and construct the human figure from imagination.
Note: The class will include three session with a live model. This class is held in our basement studio with stair access only.
PS: This course is part of a two-part series, followed by “Figure Drawing: The Clothed Figure” in winter.
These courses form a cohesive series that builds sequentially, but each can be taken on its own. That said, students will benefit greatly from completing Figure Drawing: The Fundamentals prior to tackling the challenges of the clothed figure.
