In Beginner Acrylic with Zara Haque🔗 learn essential techniques, from brush handling and layering to blending and texture creation. Explore different approaches to composition, shading, and depth while working on guided projects. We will also explore the fundamentals of colour theory, learning how colours interact, evoke emotions, and bring your artwork to life.

Please note, supplies are not provided for adult classes (unless explicitly stated so).

Recommended Materials:

Option One: (budget – friendly, if you’re a true beginner wanting to just explore the medium.)

 

Paint: Liquitex basics (brand)– Pyrrole Red, Primary Yellow, Ultramarine Blue, Titanium White, Black

Brushes: Don’t spend more than $5 per brush

Synthetic, variety of sizes and shapes (round, flat, filbert, and detail brushes)

Flat- (recommended sizes 4, 8, 12)

Round- (recommended sizes 2, 6, 10)

Detail brush- (recommended sizes 0 or 1 for fine lines)

Palette: at least 12×12” glass or plastic (could be any flat tray)

For paint mobility you can also bring a plastic air tight container

 

Option Two: (for those who are a little bit more serious in learning the techniques and wanting to carry this medium further beyond the class.)

Paint: Golden/Liquitex professional (brand) These paints are higher pigment.

Golden: Primary Cyan/Ultramarine Blue, Cadmium Yellow Light (or Hansa Yellow)/ Cadmium Yellow Medium, Cadmium Red/Quinacridone Magenta, Titanium White, Paynes Grey, Carbon Black.

Optional: Raw Sienna, Burnt Umber

 

Brushes: Synthetic, variety of sizes and shapes (round, flat, filbert, and detail brushes)

Flat- (recommended sizes 4, 8, 12)

Round- (recommended sizes 2, 6, 10)

Detail brush- (recommended sizes 0 or 1 for fine lines)

Palette: Sta-wet

 

 

Extras:

-Apron or old clothes

-Sketchbook/ water colour paper (dollarama carries a cheap one)

-Assorted Palette Knives

-Masking Tape

-Paper towels or rags for clean-up​

-Stretched canvas, canvas board (size is student’s choice)​

-Source material (photos, etc) from which to paint
