Six Weeks
In this class, students will explore colour theory and the emotions associated with different hues under the guidance of Zara Haque 🔗. Starting with an introduction to colour basics and the colour wheel, the course will delve into the psychology of colour, exploring its emotional impacts. Participants will learn blending techniques and apply them to create abstract paintings that convey specific feelings. Throughout the course, hands-on activities and discussions will foster a deep understanding of colour’s role in art and emotion.

Acrylic Paints:

Titanium White

Mars Black

Primary Red

Primary Yellow

Primary Blue

Brushes:

Flat- Small, medium, and large (recommended sizes 4, 8, 12)

Round- Small, medium, and large (recommended sizes 2, 6, 10)

Detail brush- (recommended sizes 0 or 1 for fine lines)

Canvases:

5-6 pre-stretched canvas or canvas panels (recommended size: 9×12 inches or 11×14 inches)

Acrylic painting pads or heavyweight mixed-media paper for practice

Other:

Palette for mixing colours

Metal or plastic palette knife for mixing and texturing

Masking tape or painter’s tape

Sketchbook and pencil for planning compositions (optional)

Aprons or old shirts to protect clothing

Paper towel or rags for cleaning
